Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Parade Info

As previously posted, we are in the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Parade on July 24th. We will be meeting at 8:30 am at 180 South 970 East, Spanish Fork in the parking lot of the Spanish Fork LDS Stake Center. We are float # 39. We will pass out 2000 American flags.

In order to participate, students will need to be wearing the new blue Maple Mountain Studio T-shirt along with their uniform pants and belt. They will need good walking shoes (no flip-flops), sunscreen/hat and a water bottle with their name on it.

After the parade, students can be picked up at the Cal Ranch parking lot, 950 North Main Street, Spanish Fork.

Please come and participate or watch! We'll see you there!

Training and Belt Camp August 10-14

This is an intensive martial arts training camp offered to the first 20 students who sign up. The cost is $200 and includes 25 hours of instruction and testing fees. Camp begins daily at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. The test will be on the final day with a party at Jumping Jacks to follow (also included in the price). Students will be required to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks.

Students can expect to earn a belt and gain experience not usually offered during regular classes. Please check out the flyer that was sent in the mail, also pictued below:

July belt test

We had a belt test this week at the studio. 13 students tested in Kyukido and 9 students tested in Jujitsu. Here are a few pictures of the Kyukido students:

Fiesta Days Parade

We'll be in the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days parade this year on July 24th. We will be handing out 2000 American Flags. You'll want to wear the new studio T-shirt available for $10. More details will follow about the time and place to meet.

We will also be open for the Fiesta Days Sidewalk Sale with special deals and new classes aimed at getting more folks involved in martial arts. Look for more information to come!

At the May belt test we had a record 30 students testing! We also held a first ever test for Jujitsu. Here are a few shots:

Maple Mountain Martial Arts Student Tournament

General Information
Date: Saturday, May 9, 2009
Cost: $10 per student
Awards: All students who participate will receive a medal, and several different prizes for each event they participate in. Students also will receive a certificate for their participation.

Family and friends are invited!

Events
Dragons: Presentations, Flag Pulling Contest, Self Defense and One Steps

White Belts—Sr. Yellow: Forms, One Steps, 5 step combo’s, (May spar if they have gear)

Green—Sr. Blue: Forms, One Steps, Sparring

Brown-Black: Team Self Defense(4 members), Kyukido Fighting, Board Breaking

Schedule of Events
9 a.m. Brown-Black Belts
10 a.m. Green-Sr. Blue
11 a.m. White-Sr. Yellow
12 p.m. Dragons

Registration Information
Registration will be on the day of the tournament.

Show up 15 minutes before the start time of your group and pay at the office.

All Maple Mountain Students regardless of rank or experience are encouraged to participate in this fun event!

March 2009 belt test

This week the studio held a belt test with 15 students in attendance.

Here is a shot of Mr. Joe Kelly demonstrating techniques the students needed to show for the judges.

As always, Head Master Royal West and his wife Mrs. Meda West were on hand to judge the students' performance.
